China Everbright Limited ("CEL", stock code: 165.HK) volunteer team visited Mental Health Association of Hong Kong Cornwall School. Partnered with Hong Kong Youth Art Foundation, CEL organised an “African Drum Jam Workshop” for the students and expressed the love and care to the students suffering from serious and multiple handicaps.
During the activity, 18 CEL volunteers had a joyful game session with almost 30 students aged 10-15 years. Students and volunteers had a lively African drum jamming and dancing together to experience the passion and energy of it. The customised workshop is designed to help strengthening the students’ co-ordination, listening and collaboration skills through music. At the same time, CEL volunteers had a better understanding of students with special needs through joining this event. It was full of fun and laughter during the workshop, both the volunteers and students enjoyed themselves very much. In return, the teachers and students from the school presented a thank-you card to the volunteers to express the gratitude for their love and care.
CEL is a corporation committed to corporate social responsibility. In the past few years, CEL has organised a number of volunteer services including a visit to elderly home, special child care centre, sheltered workshop, participation in Everbright Project’s large-scale activity, supported Food Angel’s Food Rescue and Food Assistance Program by taking part in preparing the “Food Angel Meals” and served the meal boxes to the elderlies, joined the “Sowers Action Challenging” for four consecutive years, as well as oraganising the Parent-Child Visiting Program to Lifeline Express Eye-Train Hospital in Shandong, Heilongjiang and Guiyang. All these activities received good response and support from CEL staff. In 2016, CEL was awarded the “Drive for Corporate Citizenship Volunteer Team” logo from Hong Kong Productivity Council to recognize the contributions made by the volunteer team in the past year. CEL will organise similar activities in the future and hope that these volunteer services can provide opportunities for its staff to serve the community in leisure time.
